FAM19A3, also known as TAFA3. It was found to be predominantly expressed in the central nervous system. Based on the transfected COS7 cells expression system. Sequence homology analysis shows that the FAM19A3 is distantly related to macrophage inflammatory protein 1α, a member of the chemokine CC family and is suggested to function as a brain-specific chemokine or neurokine.
