Definition of the disease: Newcastle disease (ND) is a highly contagious viral disease affecting wild and domestic avian species (Seal et al., 2000; Alexander, 2003). The impact of ND is most notable in domestic poultry due to the high susceptibility of poultry and the severe consequences of outbreaks of virulent strains on the poultry industries.
