    Bovine p-tau422 represents a specific subset of tau proteins intricately linked to the neurological profile of cattle. These phosphorylated tau variants are primarily localized within the central nervous system (CNS) of cattle, where they play a fundamental role in maintaining the structural stability of neuronal microtubules.

    Structurally, Bovine p-tau422 shares genetic and functional homology with its counterparts in other species, including humans. Under normal circumstances, tau proteins like p-tau422 bind to microtubules and assist in their assembly, ensuring proper neuronal function, axonal transport, and synaptic communication.

    However, in the context of neurodegenerative conditions observed in cattle, tau proteins like p-tau422 undergo abnormal phosphorylation. This post-translational modification results in tau proteins adopting atypical conformations, rendering them susceptible to aggregation. The aggregation of tau proteins culminates in the formation of neurofibrillary tangles within neurons. These tangles disrupt axonal transport, compromise synaptic function, and eventually lead to neuronal dysfunction and degeneration. The presence of elevated levels of p-tau422 is indicative of these pathological processes and the potential emergence of cognitive and neurological deficits in affected cattle.
